Milton Burglar Takes Up Residence In Homeowner’s Home

When a Hamiota Ridge family in Milton, Georgia returned home from their vacation they encountered a shocking situation. They discovered that an intruder had broken in and had been staying in their home.

The family told police that they left for vacation on June 27th and left a neighbor in charge of watching their home. Three days later, while their neighbor was checking on their home she reportedly heard the shower running.

The neighbor quickly called the police and when they arrived the police found water in the bathtub and evidence of scrambled eggs being cooked in the kitchen.

When the family returned from their vacation on June 30th, they found the children’s $1,500 savings along with another $50 in cash stolen by the Milton burglar.

It was very evident that someone was making themselves comfortable in their home. The burglar/intruder consumed a case of beer, a bottle of tequila, several bottles of water, and a bag of chips and tea.

House Fire Claims Life of Alpharetta Resident

An Alpharetta woman in Windward Community succumbed from her injuries that she sustained in a house fire in her home on Lake Windward in the early morning of June 28th.

The fire started in her home on Clipper Bay Drive in the Windward Community. The fire was well underway when the police and fire crews arrived.

George Gordon, spokesman for the Alpharetta Fire Department related, “the entire residence was involved with fire and heavy smoke with very limited visibility.” Officials said that police officers arrived first on the scene. The police as well as the firefighters broke into the home and started searching for the homeowner who was later identified as Yvonne Crisp, 52. Ms. Crisp was on the phone with 911 operators until she lost consciousness.

When the first responders finally found the woman in an upstairs room they pulled her from the house just as the home’s roof began to collapse.

Police began CPR as she was loaded into an ambulance and taken to North Fulton Hospital in serious condition. She was later transported to a specialized burn unit in Augusta, GA. She later died of her injuries.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

Fire department officials strongly urge homeowners and renters to have a fire evacuation strategy for their family. It is also recommended to have a monitored fire and smoke detection unit installed in their residence as well.

Monitored smoke detectors from a security company have more sophisticated technology than a regular non-monitored, battery powered smoke detector. However the most important difference is that a quality monitored smoke detector will notify the local fire department within seconds of detecting smoke.
